Scholarships Sources

The New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NHLRAEF) awards scholarships to New Hampshire students looking to further their culinary and hospitality education at a post-secondary level. These scholarships are designed to assist students who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the restaurant/foodservice and hospitality industry.

Heron Point Seafood Scholarship

Created in August 2022, Heron Point Seafood is proud to offer the “Heron Point Scholarship” in recognition of exemplary commitment, involvement and achievement within the available hospitality programs offered by their institution(s). This individual possesses a clear passion for the hospitality industry and is focused on a continued path of development and growth. The scholarship awards two, $5,000 scholarships to two New Hampshire students.

Application Deadline: April 5, 2024.

 

Eligibility

  • Commitment – displays a sincere focus and defined career objective within the hospitality industry
  • Involvement – takes advantage of available programs inside/outside of his academic environment
  • Achievement – maintains a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average within related hospitality courses

Preferential status will be given to students who have completed a national certification.

NHLRAEF Scholarship

The NHLRAEF Scholarship awards five, $2,000 scholarships to NH ProStart students who are pursuing a degree in the restaurant/foodservice or hospitality industry. 

Application Deadline: April 5, 2024.

 

Eligibility

  • A current or former NH ProStart student.
  • Currently attending or have been admitted to a post-secondary school where they will major in foodservice, culinary arts, hospitality management, or a related field.

Preferential status will be given to students who have completed a national certification.

Additional Scholarships

AHLA FOUNDATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, the Foundation administers nine scholarship programs, which award scholarships valued up to $7,500, for students enrolled in hospitality-related bachelor or graduate degree programs at colleges and universities across the US.

Some scholarships are reserved for current hotel employees or minorities. Others are open to full-time or part-time students. Award amounts range from $500 to $7,500. The online application opens in November and stays open through mid-February. Awardees will find out about their scholarships in June. Checks for the upcoming school year will be mailed out over the summer.

The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges

The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges (The Foundation) is a 501(c)3 entity established in 2000 to provide greater access to educational opportunities through financial assistance for student scholarships, program development, and enhancements to facilities across our seven community colleges and local academic centers, which serve students in every region of the state. 

​NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

With over 30 named scholarship funds, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) may have a scholarship that is just right for you. 

The application process is simple. Applicants complete one application, and after submission, their system will match applicants to funds they are eligible for scholarship consideration. All applicants must meet their minimum eligibility criteria and some named scholarships may have additional criteria and requirements for eligibility.

New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is the largest provider of publicly available scholarships in New Hampshire, awarding more than $7 million to more than 1,600 promising students each year. They are committed to finding and funding the most promising students with the greatest financial need.

Scholarships are awarded to students for professional certificate programs, licensure, two- and four-year undergraduate degrees, and graduate school.

ROLF T. HAMMER HOSPITALITY SCHOLARSHIP

The Rolf T. Hammer Scholarship is awarded annually to a New England student (any age) pursuing a career in the lodging or hospitality field. Applicants may be graduates of accredited high schools, high school students, post-secondary students, or children of employees of the New England Inns and Resorts Association member properties.

The Susan and William Cutillo/Path Resorts Scholarship Fund

The Susan and William Cutillo/Path Resorts Scholarship Fund, established with a pledge of $50,000 over five years, will support students in the hotel and restaurant operations and business management degree programs. The partnership will also provide students with a paid internship program at Path Resorts prior to completing the degree program.

The scholarship funds will be distributed from Granite United Way through The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges, the charitable organization dedicated to supporting New Hampshire’s seven community colleges and their students.
