Sunapee Cruises christens ‘Sunapee Lake Queen’ after long wait

SUNAPEE, N.H. — A new boat is ready to cruise Lake Sunapee in style after getting landlocked in Pennsylvania.

The Sunapee Lake Queen took to New Hampshire waters for the first time on Sunday.

She’s joining the fleet of Sunapee cruises where folks can catch a ride and enjoy the beautiful sights over dinner.

Owners said it’s been almost two years since they first saw the vessel, but it was a challenge getting it home.

Sunapee Cruises ordered the boat from Missouri, where it began its journey and was following the appropriate route that was approved for vessels of its size — until a construction project on the path started a week early.

“We were hopeful the project would move quicker, but over the past two years, every business has seen issues with delays and finding products and just making it all work so we weren’t surprised when it was delayed, but we did think it would be sooner than this,” co-owners Tim and Peter Fenton said. “Sort of like we were at full Covid-speed which is like half-speed for everything else.”

Cruises will be departing all summer long.

Tickets to ride the new boat can be found on their website.
