Patty B's Italian Restaurant in Dover started December celebrating its 10th anniversary, and ended the month closed for a week due to a COVID-19 outbreak among its staff.
Owner Patty Guarino-Barish said after six staff members tested positive for COVID-19, the restaurant was left with little choice. Once she found out her staff couldn’t collect unemployment benefits for that week, she stepped in and paid them so they didn’t miss a check. Two weeks later, the restaurant was still down four servers.
