About the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund
The New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund (NHHERF) was launched by the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association (NHLRA) and the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation to support employees of the hospitality industry who have been impacted by COVID-19.
As the industry begins to move forward from COVID-19, the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund will continue to accept donations as well as award funding to hospitality employees in need. Funds may be issued to industry employees impacted by other factors, including but not limited to, catastrophic illness, unexpected disasters, and possible future shutdowns.
The New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation is the sole owner of the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund. As the philanthropic foundation of the NHLRA, the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation enhances the industry’s service to the public through education, promotion of career opportunities, and community engagement.

How the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund works
The grant issued to the applicant will be a single disbursement. The New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation will not pay installments to the recipient. A submitted application does not guarantee funding. The applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation and NHLRA board members on an as needed basis. This fund was established for those who create and serve food and beverage as well as lodging employees in the state of New Hampshire. Below are examples of eligible employment.
The funding is restricted to use of: housing and living expenses and/or medical expenses. Applications for aid with debt payments will not be accepted.

- Nightclubs
- Wineries and breweries which offer beverage tastings
- Lodging property employees
- Food Kiosks or similar establishments

Eligible Recipients:
Eligible recipients must reside and work in the state of New Hampshire; have an annual taxable income of $60,000 or less; have or held a position in the beverage, food service, or hospitality industry within the last 60 days; and can provide proof of employment within the last 60 days (pay stubs). Employees who have been laid off due to reasons beyond their control are eligible to apply for crisis relief provided that they can prove their previous employment. Applicants who were terminated due to their own actions will not be eligible. Owners/operators of such establishments are prohibited from receiving crisis relief. The New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund was incorporated to offer relief aid to eligible present employees who meet the criteria. The New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund has limited funding sources; applicants are never guaranteed grant funding. If an applicant is awarded funding, the funding amount distributed may be a partial payment to the full amount requested.
Funding Sources: In partnership with the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation, the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund will be sourced through donations and contributions, which are tax deductible. Donations from the general public and employees of the industry are encouraged to allow the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation the ability to continue to provide relief aid to individuals who require it. Contributions made to the New Hampshire Hospitality Employee Relief Fund are made with the understanding that the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation has complete control and administration over the use of the donated funds. |
