Good afternoon, I hope you are all doing well considering the circumstances. I wanted to update everyone on a few things I am working on right now. First and foremost, I delivered a letter to the Governor's office last week seeking a dedicated hospitality industry relief fund. With restaurants operating at 50% in four counties, there will need to be additional support from the state for businesses to survive! To support us in our case for additional relief, please take a few minutes to complete the survey below. We will need this data to show state officials how dire the situation is on the ground. As I am sure you are aware, there is progress being made in Congress to issue another COVID-19 aid package and there has been a lot of work done to target a chunk of relief specifically to the hospitality industry. We should see progress on this front over the next few weeks. I have also sent a request to state officials for further clarification on a few issues I have received calls about that are critical for many of you:
Please don't hesitate to call or email if I, or anyone on my team, can help. Ask Congress to Support the Blueprint for Restaurant Revival Later this month, Congress will consider their final coronavirus response bill for 2020. We have made steady progress, but Congress needs to do much more to help us save the nation’s second-largest private-sector employer. Our partners at NRA conducted a survey last week, and thousands of restaurant operators participated. The top priorities identified from that survey were a $120 billion recovery fund for the sector and a second round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding, and so they're at the top of our advocacy agenda. At the same time, we also know it will take more than a one-time check to sustain restaurants in the post-COVID environment. We've heard you – and working with our partners at NRA we are proud to release our new Blueprint for Revival for the industry. It represents a strong, comprehensive plan for how Congress can advance restaurants in every city and town in this country. With the Blueprint for Revival, we have given Congress a roadmap for action that addresses our immediate and long-term needs. It calls for the Restaurant Recovery Fund, implementing a targeted second-round of PPP for our industry, and other asks that will help us serve the communities we call home. We need your support to bring this effort over the finish line. Please take action to share your story and lend your voice to this campaign. Every voice counts, and we have to ensure restaurants and bars are well represented in the final coronavirus relief bill for 2020. COVID-19 Response Recruitment Portal

AHLEI COVID-19 Course Demonstrates Cleaning, Safety Guidelines for Hotel Reopening As the economy reopens and travelers begin to visit hotels once more, properties must be prepared to meet the new health and safety challenges presented by COVID-19. To assist, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) recently launched COVID-19 Precautions for Hotels, an online course created to help hotels train their staffs on safety and cleanliness guidelines developed for the industry by the American Hotel & Lodging Association. The course is a training companion to the Safe Stay initiative, an industry-wide, enhanced health and safety protocol designed to prepare America’s hotels to safely welcome back guests and employees as the economy reopens. The guidelines have been endorsed by hospitality leaders and public health experts in all 50 states and Canada, and focus on cleaning and sanitizing, employee health, physical distancing, personal hygiene, and mitigation of virus transmission. TripAdvisor's New "Travel Safe" Tool Tripadvisor recently launched new “Travel Safe” tools to help businesses easily highlight all the steps they’re taking (sanitation procedures, mask-wearing guidelines, social distancing policies, etc.) to ensure the safety of their guests. This afternoon, the Governor announced another step in the reopening process. Effective immediately, New England residents will be allowed to visit NH without meeting the 14-day quarantine requirement. Please remember that the quarantine requirement will remain in place for all other visitors coming from outside of New England. This is another step in the right direction for our lodging businesses! It does not look like the Governor will be easing restrictions on restaurant capacity any time soon. With all the news from Southern and Western states around rapid increases in cases and with Texas and California reinstating restrictions, we are expecting state officials to proceed very cautiously. We have received reports from DHHS about complaints they are receiving from consumers that staff and/or guests in a number of restaurants are not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. I strongly urge everyone to remain vigilant and not let your guard down in maintaining state guidelines. Our greatest fear should be that the state decides to restrict our business operations more than they are now. Wishing everyone a safe 4th of July weekend!
