Hospitality Tourism Management Program
NHLRA partners with the American Hotel and Lodging Association to offer The Hospitality Tourism Management Program (HTMP).The HTMP is an advanced, high school curriculum that immerses 11th and 12th grade students into the world of hospitality. This two year program introduces students to the lodging industry and teaches them the management principles that will enable them to achieve success in a hospitality leadership role. All students that successfully complete the exam receive a Certificate of Completion from the Educational Institute.
Schools work with a member partner site to participate in work experiences with specially trained worksite mentors combined with a practical curriculum that imparts real world skills and hotel management concepts. Topics covered in the program include an overview of lodging management, front office and housekeeping management, leadership skills, marketing and sales, and food and beverage service.
This high school program is based on a competency model whereby each learning objective is validated by experts in the hospitality industry. The materials were then developed by educators around the country and pulled together by the Educational Institute’s staff of experienced hospitality editors.
