Local Naswa Resort celebrates 81 years
By The Citizen
New Hampshire Executive Councilor Joe Kenney joined members of the Makris Family in celebrating the 81st anniversary of the Naswa Resort in Laconia on Wednesday.
It was founded June 29, 1935, by Greek immigrants Jim and Fannie Salta, and called the Natural Spring Water Company.
Through the years, the business has prospered and thrived by offering outstanding customer service to guests, a beautiful location in The Weirs and a personal touch unrivaled in the Lakes Region.
Makris family matriarch Hope Makris turned 91 earlier this year, and was front and center for the 81st anniverary party.
Hope is the daughter of the Saltas, and married Attorney Peter Makris in 1950. They took over the business in 1953 from her parents and renamed it the NASWA Resort.
