Area restaurants kick off 'Cheers to a cure!'
By Seacoast Online

This summer through Labor Day weekend, area restaurants are partnering with LUNGSTRONG to raise funds for lung cancer research, one drink – or one dessert — at a time.

This is the third summer for the “Cheers To A Cure!” campaign and the list of participating restaurants grows every year, according to LUNGSTRONG founder Diane Legg. Legg is an 11-year lung cancer survivor and founder of LUNGSTRONG, the nonprofit dedicated to funding innovative lung cancer research.
The Epoch at the Exeter Inn will be featuring the LUNGSTRONG Summer Sizzle cocktail made with Ketel One Citroen vodka, grapefruit juice, cointreau and sparkling wine — and, for the second year, they will be donating a 50 percent of drink sales back to LUNGSTRONG. The Community Oven in Hampshire is also returning with a LUNGSTRONG Lemonade. In Salisbury, the Blue Ocean Music Hall is donating 20 percent of sales of its tropical rum punch drink to LUNGSTRONG for the month of July.

LUNGSTRONG is also working with the Margaritas in Exeter and Methuen on an Opportunity Night where a percentage of sales will be donated to the lung cancer research cause. Other restaurants like Blue Moon Evolution of Exeter, Flatbreads and Barking Dog/Ale House of Amesbury and Newburyport’s Park Lunch and Loretta’s are donating gift certificates that will be used to raise money for LUNGSTRONG’s Pan-Mass Challenge team.
Since its inception in 2011, LUNGSTRONG has raised more than $1.8 million for lung cancer research. For more information about the “Cheers for a Cure!” campaign, contact Robin Schell at or 603/770-3607. “We’re always ready to bring more restaurant partners on!” says Schell.
