Laconia restaurateur to open meats, seafood store
By Dan Seufert - New Hampshire Union Leader

The owner of a popular restaurant in Veterans Square will soon be opening a specialty meats and seafood store in downtown Laconia.

Kevin Halligan, the head chef and owner of The Local Eatery, a 51-seat “farm-to-table” restaurant in the old Laconia Railroad Station at 21 Veterans Square, has signed a rental agreement for the store space at 622 Main St. for his new business, Local Provisions.

The 700-square-foot store, which will feature fresh meats from PT Farm in North Haverhill and other butcheries and area farms, specialty marinades and fresh seafood, is in the space once occupied by the Hackett and Hill Jewelers store.

The store will feature many specialty cuts “of the best meats” at competitive prices, Halligan said, and will offer pre-made marinades as well as “lots of information for the customer” on how to cook the meats and seafood.

The store will also have free recipes for various cuts of meat.

Halligan, the former owner of the Laconia Village Bakery, is planning to open the new store on July 2. He is excited about opening a second Laconia store. Read more at
