New Woodshed Restaurant opens soon in Moultonborough

A well-kept secret is becoming big news around town.

The New Woodshed Restaurant has been built, its lounges and dining areas have been created, and a few antique-looking effects are hanging along the eves.

They remind visitors of similar effects that hung at the old restaurant, the Woodshed Restaurant that burned to the ground on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 28, 2013, in a fire whose cause was never determined.

Though it wasn’t part of the plan in completely rebuilding the restaurant, there is a definite resemblance to the old Woodshed, which opened on this parcel of Lee Road in 1978.

“We didn’t make the restaurant trying to replace the Woodshead,” said Greg Branzetti, the general manager of the restaurant, which opens on May 18. “We want people to enjoy themselves while having a Woodshead-like feeling here, though. We think it will again be a very memorable place, especially because of our prime rib.”

Chef Ed Bigwood, who will cook alongside master chef Siobhan Magee, smiled at the mention of beef. “Everything we make will be good food,” said Bigwood, who worked at the old restaurant, too. “Just like it used to be." Read more at
