Loon Mountain resort nearing completion

With construction nearing completion, Phase 1 of the RiverWalk Resort at Loon Mountain is planned to open soon, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for later this month.

Invoking the spirit and memory of White Mountain grand hotels such as The Balsams in Dixville and the Omni Mount Washington in Bretton Woods, InnSeason Resorts in November 2014 broke ground on the $30 million RiverWalk project.

Situated on the north bank of the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River at the base of the South Peak of Loon Mountain, RiverWalk will ultimately have 170 fractional-ownership units, ranging in size from 800 to 2,000 square feet, and costing between $50,000 and $200,000.

Amenities will include a full-service spa; fitness center; restaurant and lounge; game room; heated all-season pool; a seasonal pool that converts into a skating rink; an owners’ club; and personal storage lockers.

Phase I, which entails building 79 units and 145,000 square feet of space, had been expected to be complete by January 2016, but InnSeason said the date has been pushed back to May.

Dennis Ducharme, who is president of RiverWalk and a principal with InnSeason, said Phase 1 will be dedicated on June 24.

Ducharme and his business partner, William E. “Billy” Curran, have said that RiverWalk would represent the largest investment in the North Country to date. The size of the RiverWalk investment, which includes funds from the federal EB5, Immigrant Investor Program, pales in comparison with the effort to reopen The Balsams. Read more from
