Friendly's Restaurant in Nashua proposes drive-through service
By Kimberly Houghton

Friendly’s Restaurant is planning to bring back its drive-through service, with renovations and construction expected to take place next month.

“We are very excited. We are looking forward to this project, and I think it will be a great benefit to the area,” said Ray Paul, general manager of Friendly’s Restaurant at 149 Daniel Webster Highway.

Owners of the restaurant, James and Marilyn Forest, will approach the Nashua City Planning Board on Thursday with their proposal.

If approved, a new drive-thru window will be constructed, and a new island will be installed to house the menu board and speaker, according to preliminary plans on file at Nashua City Hall.

An original drive-thru window was constructed when the Friendly’s Restaurant was built in 1986; however, it was eventually closed when the company hit some financial turmoil, according to Paul.

“We recently did a proof of concept in Westfield, Mass., at our Friendly’s there, and there were great results. They decided to expand the project to other locations, including Nashua,” Paul said.

The proposed drive-thru is expected to attract more customers, and will offer a limited food and ice-cream menu, he said. Read more from
