Shorty's restaurants change hands

Shorty’s Mexican Roadhouse is under new ownership, after the sale of all three New Hampshire locations of the popular restaurant chain was completed Wednesday morning.

Jon Carnevale, former general manager of the Bedford Village Inn on Olde Bedford Way, confirmed late Wednesday that he has purchased all three Shorty’s locations from founder Rick Loeffler. He declined to reveal the purchase price.

“The sale just went through this morning,” said Carnevale. “I’m in Bedford right now, sort of getting the lay of the land of the place.”

Carnevale said he intends to keep the Shorty’s name, and will look to restore the popular eateries to the level of success they saw “during their glory years.”

“Shorty’s is a tremendous company,” said Carnevale. “I’m 35, and I think anyone who grew up in this area has fond memories of visits to Shorty’s.” Read more from the
