Glen House Hotel plans move ahead

The proposal for a fifth Glen House hotel at the Mount Washington Auto Road continues to move forward, with the development team recently telling the Coos County Planning Board that it hopes to have all state permits and to also submit a formal site-plan application in January.

On Dec. 9, Josh McAllister, from HEB Engineering, and Richard Frazier of BMA Architects, who both represent the Mount Washington Summit Road Co., presented a conceptual review for the three-story, 67-room hotel which would be located on an 18.16-acre parcel that most recently had been home to the Great Glen Trails building. That structure was destroyed in an explosion and fire in 2001.

Assuming that the project gets a timely approval from the planning board, McAllister, according to the meeting minutes, said he hoped that construction of the hotel could begin sometime next spring. Read more from the
